STEM Without Borders Charity number: 1181302
STEM Without Borders works with carefully selected partners to develop and provide activity and training in engaging educational experiences. Current partner organisations include Mindsets UK, UK STEM and STEM Learning. These partner organisations plus the charities own horizon scanning allow the charity to take the best of what is on offer and make it accessible to beneficiaries.
In 2018 STEM Without Borders was set up with the aim of raising awareness of STEM education and making it accessible to children and young people globally, with a focus on supporting developing countries.
Funding to support the charity primarily comes from The Global STEM Award with 10% of sales going to the charity directly.
Our Projects:
In 2019 STEM Without Borders accompanied a group of UK Sixth Form Students on a trip to Cambodia. Funding was used to help purchase tech equipment, including laptops, projector, Crumble starter kits and other classroom resources that were used to deliver some STEM class based activities with children at two NGO schools in Cambodia. In addition to the STEM activities for the Cambodian children in the classroom, the UK students also supported a building a project at one of the schools in a rural area near Siem Reap. Students were hands-on in helping to build a dining shelter at the school.

In March 2023 STEM Without Borders supported schools in Ghana. Three of the laptops STEM sent to Ghana are being used in small secondary schools around Hohoe and the other two laptops are being used along side some crumble boards in the village of Karimenga. I’m hopefully going to receive some photos of the laptops being used within the coming month. The teaching in karimenga focuses on the use of computers for coding and how that can advance their employment possibilities. The computers have been a huge help to the locals as they learn basic ICT in school but the schools themselves have no access to computers.

We are excited to announce that in January 2024 we will be launching our STEM Without Borders Community Project Grant. Applications will be invited from schools, youth groups and organisations for some funding to work collaboratively with overseas young people on STEM projects that will support the achievement of a Global STEM Award. Further information on this will be available soon!
